LOS ANGELES -- It's not a ghost on "Grey's Anatomy."

This news comes from Steve McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment.

Fans have wondered what's going on between Izzie (Katherine Heigl) and dead Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Some viewers have complained the show has gone off the rails. McPherson defended the work of series creator Shonda Rhimes.

"When you get to end of the season, you see everything she had in mind," McPherson said. "It might not be your cup of tea, but I think you'll be surprised at how insightful and actually smart the story line itself is."
